Title: Letter from William Wight, Regarding the Dr Reid Controversy

Author(s): Wight, Dr William

Dear Sir

Had it been in my Power, to
have attained the late Meetings of Faculty, Dr
Reid's Complaints, and Accusations, should have
had, an immediate Answer. I must tak Notice,
that Persons, who have done on Injury, have often
been the loudest in their Complaints; and I beg
leave to inform the Gentlemen of the Faculty,
and Dr Reid, that I am not at all, conscious, of
having utterd any unsuitable Expreſsions, with
respect to him, or to have used Language, which
either requires Apology, or demands an [
] - as that yet the man, however, has made
a formal Complaint to the Facult, I must very
earnestly insist, and th. other Gentlemen, who
are complaind of, will I doubt not, join in this
Requisition, [¿] in Order to proceed in this matter

regularly, and to do Justice to all Parties, the
Faculty, will in the first Place, enter into their
Minutes, my Complaint, made on the 6th of March,
of the Meſsage, which was brought to me on the
4th, together with Dr Reid's, acknowledgment
of its Purport, and his Answers, to [¿] Questions;
and that the Faculty, will give their opinion,
upon that Subject.

This, it is humbly apprehended, is the fair,
and natura Order, of proceeding, previous, to
any Judgment, being given of what past in
Consequence of that Meſsage. Tho' I cannot
be present, at your Meeting, I feel no Uneasineſs on
that ſtead, the Cause Sir, as far as I am concerned,
is perfectly simple, and I have an intire Reliance,
both on the Discernment, and Probity, of my Colleagues,
and I am very respectfully, [¿], and Dear Sir

Your most obedient
humble ſervant
